Nuit Blanche has become a world-wide phenomenon. We are proud to join in on the fun with our inaugural event on September 22, 2012.
From where we stand we give a big shout out to Nuit Blanche Paris who jumped into the ring in 2002 by working with Jean Blaise from ‘Les Allumées’ in Nantes, FR. You can read an interesting account about the evolution of Nuit Blanche and see some of the other events that are happening around the world here. When planning #NBO12 we also drew ideas from Nuit Blanche Montreal & Scotia Bank Nuit Blanche Toronto who have developed their events into fantastic adventures.
Our own Nuit Blanche sits alongside another three that are also part-funded and fully organised by BRAVO. So if you can’t make it to Ottawa on September 22nd maybe you will have a chance to take part in these/

‘While the name may not always be ‘Nuit Blanche’, cities around the world are rising to the challenge to host annual events that celebrate creative experimentation and architectural interventions over one long night of celebration. These events push the dynamic of the city streets into new playgrounds and zones of experience. They enable momentary opportunities where the bending, extending and folding of bylaws for the sake of being adventurous can happen. Most of all, they allow people of all walks of life to take to the streets to celebrate the very creative aspects of life.’ – Megan Smith (Curator 2012)
